Got Expired Drugs? Take Back Drugs Event

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

The Norfolk State University Police Department is hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day (NTBI) for the community Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NSU Police Department building located at 2501 Corprew Avenue. Bring your pills for disposal to the NSU Police Department, lobby area. We cannot accept liquids, needles or sharp objects, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. The NTBI is designed to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of unused or expired prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.

Americans are getting the message that cleaning out old prescription drugs from medicine cabinets, kitchen drawers, and bedside tables reduces accidents, thefts, and the misuse and abuse of these medicines, including opioid painkillers. This year’s event is the 13th opportunity in seven years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding  homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. For more information, contact Lt. Kevin Genwright, NSU Police Department, at 757-823-8102.
