I am looking for someone with a very unique skillset to set up the VR setup I have in the Cyberpsychology lab (VR headset with integrated eye tracking...see link below). The equipment is still in the box. The person who takes on this role will be responsible for setting up the equipment to be fully functional in the lab and ensuring it integrates with the software in the lab (which is the program found on the iMotions website from the link). Additionally, once the hardware is set up and integrated with the software, the person chosen will need to create basic VR environments (we have no budget to purchase anything, so it has to all be freeware or created from scratch) and subsequently test to ensure the hardware and software work as needed. The lab also has the EEG equipment indicated at the second link below, and if the person chosen is interested in this type of hardware/software, they will have the opportunity to work with this as well.

NOTE: This position is to work with hardware/software physically located in the Cyberpsychology Research Lab (located in the Cybersecurity Research Complex, in MCAR). You do not need to be a psychology student or have any background in psychology for this position, as it is a technical skill position primarily. You do need to be able to be on site often, although not all the time, since the equipment is located in MCAR. Please email your resume and a brief statement of experience and interest if you believe you are qualified for this role to Dr. Scott Debb (smdebb@nsu.edu). The selected applicant does not need to know how to use all of the specific equipment indicated, but they must have direct experience as indicated in this job announcement to be able to learn and figure out what needs to be done (all with your weekly hours). This will be accomplished via researching tutorials on the iMotions website and other sources, as well as trial and error in the actual lab on site. Do not apply if you do not have the know-how to learn and implement what's needed, although again, you do not need to have direct knowledge of the specific equipment indicated above.

Qualifications:

1. Understanding of how to set up and use the equipment listed above 2. Knowledge and experience with creating VR environments 3. Hardware/Software proficiency (to learn about any hardware/software integration that is needed) 4. Ability to work semi-independently after being given a specific task (as described above) 5. Interest in research is helpful, but not required 6. Anyone qualified based on these standards should apply. You do not need to be a psychology major or have any experience with this field of study 7. You need to be able to be on campus (MCAR) for approximately 50% of the hours in order to set up and test the physical equipment on site. Other tasks can be done remotely. You may not need to be on site each week, but there will be significant time on site, without exception.

Must be awarded work-study for the fall 2025 term.
