Duties:
The Summer Research Assistant will support research projects focused on plant–microbe interactions and plant responses to environmental stress. The student will assist with greenhouse and growth chamber experiments, microbial sample preparation, DNA extraction, protein and enzyme-related analyses, and Oxidative stress measurements. Responsibilities will include growing and maintaining plants, applying microbial and stress treatments, preparing samples for DNA extraction, conducting laboratory assays, and helping with protein/electrophoresis-related analysis. The student will also assist with ROS detection using plate readers and fluorescence microscopy to observe cellular responses. Additional duties include recording data carefully, maintaining lab cleanliness, following safety procedures, and helping organize results for reports, posters, or presentations. This position is ideal for a student interested in biology, microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, or environmental scienne. Students will gain hands-on experience in greenhouse/growth chamber experiments, molecular lab techniques, fluorescence-based assays, microscopy, and scientific data analysis.
Qualifications:
Majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, Engineering, or related STEM fields. Must be awarded federal work-study for summer session I.
