Duties:
Career Peer Advisor (CPA) provides peer career development assistance to Norfolk State University students throughout their undergraduate education. • assist students with resume, cover letter development and application assistance • actively support students with job search strategies and with locating information for internships, fellowships, summer, part-time and full-time job searches • identify resources for career exploration; and assist students with locating information for internships, fellowships, summer,part-time and full-time employment • write career-related articles for the monthly Career Services newsletter/blog • support professional staff in planning and presenting workshops, career expos, seminars and special programs • assist with advertising the services and programs of Career Services through outreach to student groups and Social Media platforms • assist with creating flyers, brochures and presentations • manage the Career Services Social Media platforms • conduct surveys on programs and services • track and monitor student participation and satisfaction of programs and events through career services • assist with managing the operations of the Career Services Career Closet, donations, student referrals, inventory, and marketing of service • provide advice and consultation concerning the scope of services and programs offered by Career Services • act as a representative of Career Services to the campus community • conduct some reception and clerical duties within the office.
Qualifications:
1) Interest in assisting peers with career concerns 2) Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present information to groups 3) Creativity and enthusiasm! Must be awarded work-study for the spring 2019 term.
