Duties:
Conference Services provides comprehensive event coordination and management services for conferences, camps, organizations and academic programs hosted at Norfolk State University. Conference Services is currently recruiting staff to provide support for campus events. Staff will gain work experience and build valuable organization, communication and collaboration skills that can be applied to all future employment. Position Summary The Event Set-Up Crew provides support in the setting up and breaking down of all meeting space set-ups on campus. This includes daily operations as well as special events outside of normal business hours. Event setup includes special events, student activities, departmental events  Event setup equipment includes tables, chairs, and simple audio-visual arrangements. Event setup must be completed in a timely fashion, and may involve short periods of turnover · time between events · Assigned hours may include week days, week nights, and weekends.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications · Must be enrolled as a current student in good standing · Must be able to work in a team environment · Must be comfortable with lifting and setting up equipment of moderate weight · Must be able to learn and use 25Live event scheduling system · Must be able to understand floor diagrams and follow to precise detail · Must be able to use all equipment provided for their position Preferred qualifications include: · Strong communication skills · Strong time management skills · Self-motivated with capacity for self-directed work; resourcefulness; accountability · able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail · Able to work flexible hours, including week days, evenings and weekends. Must be awarded federal work-study for the fall 2022 term.
