Duties:
Dr. Subedi's Research Lab at Norfolk State University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support ongoing research and teaching lab projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of scientific and academic tasks, contributing to impactful research while developing valuable skills. Key Responsibilities: Prepare samples and set up experiments. Conduct literature reviews. Perform data analysis and contribute to writing reports and papers. Collect organismal samples, including microbes, plants, and animals. Conduct tissue culture, media preparation, and grow plants in the Greenhouse and NSU Garden. Use DNA kits and PCR techniques for genomic DNA sequencing from soil and plant samples. Laboratory Maintenance: Clean laboratory glassware and set up new equipment. Teaching Support: Assist with grading tests and assignments. Insert and clean data in computer systems.
Qualifications:
Prefer Juniors and Seniors, Biology Major. But Biology non-majors and CSET students are welcome to apply. Must be awarded work-study for the Spring 2025 term.
